Abstract

Valeriy Babich. Participation of Jews in the events of the Ukrainian revolution of 1917 – 1921.

Abstract. The  article  deals  with  the  main  features  of the participation of the Jewish population in the revolutionary events of 1917–1921s. During the 4 years of the revolution, many state formations changed, which had different attitudes to the political life of Jews in Ukraine. The Socialist Central Rada was replaced by the Hetmanate of Pavlo Skoropadsky with a clear pro-Ukrainian position. But the hetmanate did not last long and the Ukrainian People's Republic was reborn, which was called the Directory of the UPR. At the same time with the establishment of the Directory's power, the Western Ukrainian People's Republic appeared on the political map of Europe. Jews, due to the lack of their own statehood, were forced to choose a side in the military confrontation. The choice fell on the Ukrainian position.
